DIRECTIONS FOR USE
DIFFERENT SURFACES REQUIRE DIFFERENT METHODS OF PREPARATION BEFORE PAINTING.
Clean surface before painting.
To clean leather:
Use a soft lint-free cotton cloth and 100% acetone to clean the entire surface. Gently scrub the surface until it begins to feel tacky and then move on to another area. This will remove any contaminants and will soften the original polyurethane finish and allow the paint to form a strong chemical bond to the leather. Allow to air dry for at least 10 minutes before painting. do not use heat to speed this up.
From this point, you will have about 24 hours to complete any art and finish with a topcoat. After 24 hours, the Original polyurethane finish will no longer be softened and it will be difficult for the paint to make a permanent bond. If you plan on taking more than 24 hours, begin with a single coat of INTERCOAT which will bond to the original polyurethane and leave the surface open to chemical bond for weeks.
To clean plastic or pvc
Use a soft lint-free cotton cloth and 91% alcohol to clean the entire surface. Gently scrub the surface until it begins to feel dry or no longer slippery and then move on to another area. This will remove any contaminants such as silicone and other mold release agents that would prevent adhesion. Allow to air dry for at least 10 minutes before painting. do not use heat to speed this up. Some plastics require light sanding for best adhesion. Use 800 grit sandpaper and water for any sanding. Sand surface until it has a uniform appearance. Clean the surface again after sanding to remove any loose particles from sanding.
To clean canvas or fabric
Wash with a residue and wax-free detergent and rinse thoroughly. Allow the surface to dry fully before painting. Prime surface with LK Primer or Intercoat to prevent colors from bleeding and make the surface better for detailed art. use a hairdryer to speed up the drying of paints. Finish with a top coat and dry with a hairdryer.
